A weekend of french toast and spinning shoes

This weekend was an eventful one. The first bit of exciting news is that I got spin shoes! I went home to visit my mom and we went to a bicycle store in Queens (the same place we got my very first bicycle!) and the man there was so nice and knowledgable. They only had one pair of women’s cycling shoes, and although I am normally a 6 or 6.5 in shoes, I tried on the 7 (since that was all they had) and they fit perfectly!

I love the colors and the way they look. The man in the store installed the hook things for me, but I need to bring them to the gym and see where I like the positioning before I tighten them. Righty tighty.

I am so excited to try them out! I don’t know if I will be able to tonight because for the past 2 days my stomach has been burning in pain, and I also have some errands to run after work — one being a trip to the running store near my apartment so I have a gait analysis and get shoes that will be good for me.

Then the most exciting part of the weekend was on Sunday. I made Hungry Girl’s Big Apple French Toast Casserole (minus the apples) for the boy and I. It was the perfect treat after doing a 45 minute run and 10 minute walk! I never made french toast in the oven before so this was very new to me. The boy doesn’t have an electric mixer (neither do I) so I wasn’t able to get all the cream cheese as smooth as possible, but the chunks did make a delicious treat!

The smells flowing through the apartment during the 40 minute baking period were nothing short of heavenly. I treated us to real maple syrup for dipping (I used to sugar free/calorie free kind for the mixture). The boy tasted it… and LOVED it! He absolutely loved it. He was so surprised that all the ingredients were healthy (I used Pepperidge Farm light wheat bread at 45 cals per slice) and I could tell he geniunely loved it. Not only did he devour it, he kept telling me how great it was! I thought it was delicious at well, and a big thanks to Hungry Girl for the recipe! I do not like cooking but I LOVE making breakfast!

Unknowing Questions from Readers: How to make shiny french bread?

I don’t know. You even searched my internal blog search for “french bread.” Maybe you thought I was some kind of expert? I’m sorry I can’t help, but in related news there are two french toast recipes I want to make very soon:

1. For the Love of Peanut Butter and B.Healthy’s  Maple-Glazed Pumpkin French Toast; and,
2. Hungry Girl’s Big Apple French Toast Casserole without the apples (because of my stomach) – I plan to make this one on Sunday!

If I make french toast this weekend, I will let you know how it goes! I’ll need to do a bit of food shopping first, so I’ll see if I have time.

I decided that I want to start looking at spin shoes. I went to Sports Authority yesterday but they didn’t sell them there. I called Modell’s today and asked if they sell cycling shoes. The person on the phone laughed at me and said no. Why laugh? Was my request unreasonable for a sporting goods store? What’s so funny?!

There is a bike store 2 blocks from my apartment so I will go there.

And, dear reader, I apologize for not only not knowing how to make shiny french bread, but for not knowing how to make french bread at all, or, in fact, anything about french bread.

One last comment – to the person searching about “bacteria overgrowth in mouth and butt“, perhaps you should see a doctor. I know your search inquiry wasn’t a question per se, but I would like to take it upon myself to suggest you get medical attention. ASAP.

Thanks for searching!
