I’ve Got Nothing

I have been awful at keeping up lately! I want to blog, I even have lots to say, I just don’t seem to have the time. And when I do, I just want to veg out in front of the TV. I think I am very stressed out because I haven’t been able to sleep the last few nights. My jaw gets so clenched and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to unclench it so I can get some rest. And it hurts so much. Really bad pain. Not sure if this is related, but when I open my mouth wide to yawn my jaw pops out. When I close it, it pops back in. Freaky.

When I told the dentist, he told me I need an $800 night brace. I don’t have $800 and I’m not really sure how much I need it since he barely even looked at me before telling me this. I plan to find out if my insurance will pay for any of it, and I have a doctor’s appointment at an internist this week so I will ask for her thoughts as well.

Oh yeah and I am seeing the surgeon again next week.

Enough negativity, let’s talk about good things. Well, let’s quickly mention good things, because this is another one of those “I have no time to post but here is what I’d like to post about when I do have time to post” posts.

Things I plan to blog about:

  • Seattle (over a month ago already, ugh)
  • My Turkey Day workout FAIL and the rest of my workouts that week
  • Cool machine they have at my new gym!
  • December is my own Back on Track month
  • My 10K that is happening THIS SUNDAY
  • Other race news!

And more. But I don’t have time to tell you anything tonight because I am going to dinner with one of my favorite bloggers! Hers was one of the first blogs I ever read and I am so excited to meet her at one of my favorite restaurants. Any guesses who I might be meeting??

Tomorrow night I have writing class until late (only 3 left — even though I am learning a lot, I am kinda ready for it to be over. I want my Wednesday nights back!) so I hope to get back to you all on Thursday! I also have to do my writing homework that is due TOMORROW (I had 2 weeks, I am such a procrastinator) and a longer writing assignment due next week. And I have to make my 10K playlist!

I have a little giveaway coming up soon as well.

And I want to win these socks. Giveaway.

Thank you all for bearing with me during my erratic posting schedule. You are all wonderful and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support I get in the blog world!

Now I leave you with something adorable. My brother and Mallory’s pup Santana was boarded at the PetSmart hotel when they were away for a few days. She got a glowing REPORT CARD. How sweet and adorable! Such a good girl, that pup! Everyone loves her.

Santana Report Card

Santana will be enjoying another luxurious stay at the PetSmart hotel in a few weeks. I heard they serve ice cream!

I have a night mouthguard, but I don’t think it cost that much. Maybe $200 and my dental insurance covered some of it. Still I think the over the counter things could work just the same…. not sure how important it is that it is molded to your mouth.

That report card is too cute. I wish the kennel we took our pooch to did that.

Someone else recommended OTC as well. I will look into that this week, thank you!

Are you running the 10K in Central Park this weekend? I’m volunteering at the race as a course guide (or something like that….who knows…). I’ll keep my eyes open for you and cheer extra loud if you pass by!

So jealous of your blogger meet-up! Where did you go? I may be doing a jog in CP with a friend on Sunday, but probably long after your race has finished. And I know it’s going to get chilly, but a fun run next weekend would help force us to deal with the cold! After a few mins it will seem like nothing.

I also feel like I have NO time lately.

Went to Peacefood Cafe, which is my favorite restaurant right now. Rob and I order from there multiple nights a week! I’ll go with you anytime you want to try it!

Let’s do a Dec 13 run. We’ll organize some people.

ahhhh – the mouth guard. My dentist has told me I need one for years, so I finally broke down and bought one this year (it was about $500, of which I had to pay about $180). Within the first week, I’d already grinded (ground?) down one of the sides! I’m a BAD, bad clencher.

I love the puppy report card! She is a star student. 🙂

So sorry about your jaw! That sounds similar to what happened to me.. it turned out I had TMJ. I got a OTC night guard and that helped a little. I also had to use prescription muscle relaxers a few times to force my jaw to relax so I could sleep. What helped me most was a warm compress around my jaw and consciously relaxing my jaw as often as I could. Good luck!

I don’t know how to physically relax my jaw. I keep trying. Took my prescript muscle relaxer last night, it did help but took long time to kick in. Will take earlier next time.

I wear a mouth guard at night (please don’t tell!). It’s an OTC one, but before that I had an expensive one from the dentist. I lost it on a vacation and didn’t have the $ to replace it, so I just go the OTC one. I don’t notice a difference between the two. I would try the OTC one first and see if it helps. Good luck!

I bought the OTC one but it says on the box “Do not use if you have jaw pain. Do not use if you have TMJ.” But isn’t that what it is for?? I am so confused!

Dori- my mom wears the OTC one- she got it because she couldnt buy the one from the dentist.. her dentist said it was ok to use for jaw pain- hers was from the same thing- her jaw clenched up at night and she couldnt figure out why- maybe your dentist knows that you would have to shell out 800 bucks out of pocket for it? and he can only charge 600 to insurance?! IDK.. just throwing that money making scheme out there ; )

I learned this trick from a yoga podcast and it really helps me relax my jaw: think about keeping your tongue from touching the roof/bottom of your mouth so that it’s just in the middle and not touching anything. That should prevent you from clenching your jaw. Sorry about all the pain!

Some cameras such as the VTech Kidizoom Plus come with
three fun preschool games as well as easy to use photo
editing software. The electric powered engines are the most
common helicopter engines that we have today.

For hours of fabulous fun, check out this Strawberry Shortcake remote control
